Coach Phil Danaher is presently in his thirty-fourth year at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi. Calallen has made it to the state playoffs for thirty-three consecutive years, reaching the state finals in 2005 and 2016, state semi-finals 11 times, quarter-finals 6 times and regional finals 9 times. Danaher’s record at Calallen is 377 – 72 – 2; an average of 11 wins per year. His head coaching career began at Dilley High School from 1974-1977 and he was head coach at Hamshire-Fannett from 1978-1983. Danaher’s career record is 445 - 108 - 4. His teams have made the playoffs 37 times in his 43 years as a head coach. He has coached in 113 playoff games and is currently the winningest coach in TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL HISTORY. Danaher’s honors include: TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ASSOCIATION Hall of Honor Inductee in 2015, he was the Tom Landry Award winner in 2017, and he also served on the THSCA Board of Directors from 1991-1993 and has been a member of the coaches association for 46 years. His son Wes Danaher, was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
