Felton “Pooch” Wright coached for 16 seasons at Ballinger High School where he compiled a 119-36-7 record. During his tenure the Bearcats outscored their opponents 3,887 to 1,245. His teams won five regional championships – 1929, 1941, 1942, 1943, and 1945. Wright had an innovative mind. He invented and early sauna machine, patented a T-Center to allow a quarterback to practice taking snaps and developed the Ballinger Blocking Board. A native of Junction, Texas, Wright was an All-T.I.A.A. tackle for Howard Payne College in 1921.
