Gilbreth compiled an overall record of 224-92-3 in 34 years with stops at Poteet, Cotulla, San Antonio Kennedy, Cuero, Galena Park North Shore, Pasadena Dobie and Fort Bend Clements. His biggest success came in 11 years at Cuero (1969-79), where he led the Gobblers to consecutive state championships in 1973-74 and set a Class 3A record with 44 consecutive wins before losing to Ennis in the 1975 state final. He also reached the finals in 1970, losing to Gordon Wood’s Brownwood team.
